Cowgirl Cookies

About a month ago we attended a birthday party for our dear friends' daughter. Miss Clare turned 4 and she is totally into horses. So naturally she had a horse birthday party and Adeline insisted that we buy Clarabelle a horse (toy of course!) for her birthday, after all she declares on weekly basis that "Clare is my best friend". Those two are two peas in a pod and I see a lot of trouble in our future. Thank goodness they won't be in the same grade! Katie made the coolest party favor's I've ever seen. Every family got to take home a jar of Cowgirl Cookies to bake, each of the kids got their own straw cowboy/girl hat to take home also! The girls and I made our cowgirl cookies the week following the birthday party and they were AMAZING! Best chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted. I had to take some before pictures because I thought the jars were simply adorable! Katie found the idea on Pinterest. I have a serious addiction to Pinterest, if you click the follow me tab on the right hand side you can join me on Pinterest! Anyway, you can find out how you can put together your own jar of cowgirl/boy cookies. They are simply delish and I must keep it in mind for future gift giving opportunities!

Everyone took a turn stirring the cookie dough...

Stella wasn't so happy that it wasn't her turn to stir the cookies!

My crazy girl Adeline, yes she is wearing Christmas pj's in the
middle of the afternoon.
Thanks Katie for the great Cowgirl Cookies!

Cookie Baking...

I decided to do some baking yesterday, so last week I had asked our friend Katie if they'd like to come over and help. Here are a few pictures we got from our day baking. We got quite a bit done considering all the extra "help" we had. I still have sugar cookies to make and gingerbread, but I'll get there, maybe later tonight after the kids are in bed!

The dads and boys played Wii while the ladies were in the kitchen. Here is the dads taking it easy!

Lots of help!

Making Gingerbread Cookies

Sunday when we were at my Grandparents house, my grandma had made dough for gingerbread cookies and had the kids help her roll it out and make the cookies, I think they all had a good time! They cookies were mighty tasty, they skipped the icing to make it less of a mess, but used mini M&M's, red hots and sprinkles instead to decorate them. My Grandma's cookie recipe is at the bottom of the pictures.

Goofy girl!
Granny's Gingerbread Cut-outs
1 c butter
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 c dark molasses
2 T vinegar
5 c sifted flour
1-½ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves

Cream butter, add sugar gradually.  Beat in egg, molasses and vinegar. Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Chill. Roll 1/8 to ¼ inch thick on floured canvas and cut into desired shapes.  Place on greased cookie sheets; decorate before baking or frost when cool.   Bake at 375 degrees 5 to 15 minutes depending on size and thickness of cookie.
