Two Month Well Baby Update...

Miss Adeline had her two month check up this morning. Everything went fairly well. She's growing. This morning she weighed in at 13 pounds 5 oz! And she's 24 inches long. By far our biggest baby thus far! Paul was only 13 lbs 1 oz at his two month check up and I haven't looked at Amelia's baby book yet (need to dig it out again), but my guess is she was right around 11 pounds or so. she was really a peanut when she was a baby! We thought Paul was a big baby! I had peeked at his baby book last night to see how big he was when he was 2 months old. Kevin, Gene and I were guessing how big Adeline was prior to her appointment. Kevin guessed 12 lbs 8 oz, Gene guessed 12 lbs 6 oz and I guessed 13 lbs even. Too bad I didn't put a wager on it! Ha! A pedicure sure would have been nice or maybe even a night where I didn't have to cook dinner!

Addie didn't have the four vaccinations, plus an oral vaccination that she was scheduled to have at today's appointment. Last night she started coughing like Amelia and Paul have for the last week. It's pretty raspy and she has a difficult time breathing when she gets a coughing spell. Our doctor thinks she may have the start of croup, so he gave her a shot of decadron which is a steroid that helps open up her airways. If things aren't looking better by Friday, I'm suppose to bring her in again on Friday and have her tested for RSV. I'm hoping her cough improves and that we don't have to worry about RSV. Everything else looks great, he said her heart murmur seemed fainter than the last time he listened to that, so that's good news. Next week I have to take her back to the office for a nurses visit to have her immunizations.

Overall we're all doing well. Amelia and Paul are finally done with their fevers, Paul had his Monday-Friday last week and Amelia has hers from Friday-Monday. Thankfully Adeline hasn't had a fever thus far...I hope it continues!

Until next time, have a good week!

Adeline is 8 weeks old!!

Adeline is already 8 weeks old! How crazy is that?! She'll be exactly 2 months old on Saturday. I can't wait to see how much she weighs next week at her 2 month check up. She's really getting big. She's already outgrown her 0-3 month onesies. And some of her one piece outfits are getting too short! I went through Amelia's clothes tonight from when she was a baby and some of my favorite summer outfits she had are already too small for Addie. Which is kind of a bummer! But the girl will still have a ton of clothes to wear this summer!

Sweet Baby Feet!

Sisters hanging out watching cartoons! Pauly lounging.

8 weeks old!

Here is a video of her rolling over tonight. Some may remember she rolled over a few weeks ago, but when I went to get the video camera she wouldn't do it again! Tonight I laid her on the floor for tummy time and she immediately rolled over, so I grabbed the camera (finally figured out/remembered I can take video with my camera thanks to my girlfriend Randi!)Way quicker than grabbing the video camera! She didn't roll over again when I got the camera out. So we ate dinner, played for a while, got her pj's on, fed her and then we had tummy time again, this time I made sure I turned my camera on and had it ready BEFORE I laid her on the floor. She immediately rolled over! She's turning into such a big girl already!

As overheard at our house...

Things that were overheard recently at our house...
Like they say "Out of the mouths of babes..."

Amelia sobbing in the car...
Kevin: Amelia, what's wrong?!
Amelia: Pauly called me a little sh*t.

Nice, wonder where he heard that?!

Paul: Us walk to church Mommy.
Angela: Pauly, it's time to come inside.
Paul: No! No way Mom!
Angela: Yes, yes way Paul. You CANNOT leave this yard without Mommy or Daddy.
Followed by a crying 2 year old and upset 4 year old because they have to come inside.

sidenote: They decided to take a walk to church (1 block) BY THEMSELVES, while I was feeding Adeline. They are allowed to play outside, between the two sidewalks and I can hear/see them out both the kitchen window and living room window. They are not to leave that grassy patch. I cleaned up the kitchen, went to sit down and feed Adeline, no longer than 10 minutes later, I no longer heard them and threw my shoes on and took Adeline with me and we walked around to the backyard...not there...continued around the house...not there...happened to look down at church, and there they were, playing in the grass. Nice. Pass the Mom of the Year award to me. Thank goodness we live in a very small town and the street isn't very busy.

The next morning Kevin has a talk with them about taking off and walking to church alone and Paul says "Us walk to the Church yard Daddy"
Kevin: You don't walk there by yourself.
Paul: Us walk to the Church yard and play.
Kevin: No, not without Mommy and Daddy.

Saturday morning, 7:45 am, Paul is standing on our bed looking out our open window... (our bedroom window looks out to the backyard)
Paul: Daddy, dat guy in my car! Dat guy in my car! (Cozy Coupe)
Kevin: Tell him to get out of it.
Paul: (to the 3 yr old neighbor boy) Get out of my car, get out of my car! Hey dat girl in my Mimi's car too. Get out of my Mimi's car! (girl=1-1/2 yr old)

*seriously, what are your children doing roaming around my backyard so early in the morning?! Especially when he has his OWN Cozy Coupe. Amazingly, mom came and told them to come home as they were going to Mankato....I assume had they not been going to Mankato, they'd stay all day, no Kevin has to figure out a new way to keep the gate closed!

Paul wakes up one morning with a very wet diaper...
Kevin: Pauly, this diaper is about to explode!
Paul: I blow that diaper up! (as Kevin puts on the new one...) I blow this one up too!
Kevin: You sure have a lot of pee
Paul: Yeah, my pee pee like a fire hose.

Lovely. Where do they come up with this stuff?!

Anytime I say anything of the sort to Amelia...
Mommy: How are you little lady?
Amelia: Me not little lady, me big lady.

She often says "Me not little, me bigger now! Pauly little"

Paul to Auntie Amber: Amer, you have a napover at my house?
Amber: Yes, I will have a napover at your house all weekend!

Paul is the little comedian at our house...check back for more funny things overheard!

Here is a video of Paul talking about the neighbor boy being in his car....oh and the ABC's too.

Children's Museum

The kids, Mary and I went to the Minnesota Children's Museum today. They had a Clifford Exhibit that upon my sister in law's recommendation looked like it'd be a fun thing to do with the kids. I think they are tired of sitting home all the time, so it was time for something different. I knew I could never go all three kids by myself, so I asked Mary because she had the day off work because of Good Friday. I highly recommend going there if you have small children. They kids had a blast and there was so much for them to do there. It was the first time we've every gone and I'm hoping we can go back again soon! Here are a few pictures!

Adeline update

Yesterday morning we had Adeline's appointment at The Children's Heart Clinic in Mpls. The appointment was at 9:00 am. So it was an early morning for us, we left our house at 6:45 to get the kids to daycare and then headed to Minneapolis. We weren't real sure how long it would take us or how traffic would be. I'm glad we got up there early though, it allowed us plenty of time to get parked and then for me to feed Adeline before the appointment.

The appointment went great. It was an hour and a half like they told us it would be. The nice thing was we hardly had to wait in the waiting room and we really never had to wait for the doctor either. Which just isn't normal for doctor appointments, seems like you're always getting in for your appointment because they are running behind, that wasn't the case here.

They started out by getting her weight, and she weighed 11 lbs 8 oz, she gained almost a pound in a little over a week!! Yikes! Then they did a chest x-ray to check the size of her heart. The doctor came in and talked to us and then he recommended they do a echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) the echo took about 30-40 minutes and the sonographer went over all parts of her heart w/ a fine tooth comb. It was kind of cool watching that even though we had no idea what we were looking for.

Then the cardiologist looked over the pictures from the echo and came back in and talked to us. What she has is VSD=Ventricular Septal Defects. Which in laymans terms means she has 4 small holes in the septum, which is the wall that separates the lower right chamber and lower left chamber. The left side pumps blood to your body and the right side pumps it to your lungs, the side that pumps it to your body is stronger or has more pressure and it’s pushing some blood back through to the other side through the holes and that is what is causing the noise or the murmur that they are hearing. He thinks it should heal on it’s own because they are really small. Sometimes when the holes are bigger they have to operate, but that isn’t the case here…thankfully! Although the issue with her heart is pretty insignificant in the big scheme of things, it explains why she sleeps so much. The doctor told us that babies with heart issues sleep a lot and she definitely sleeps more than Amelia and Paul ever did as newborns. The cardiologist was really nice and great at explaining everything. He said he's glad to see there is still value in a stethoscope!

We’ll go back in 6 months and he’ll check it all again to see if they have closed up. I’m glad we got it all checked out and now we can breathe a sigh of relief!

My favorite picture of the girls...
