Cardiologist Follow-Up
We had Addie's follow-up with the pediatric cardiologist this morning. We first saw the cardiologist at the MN Children's Heart Clinic six months ago when our doctor referred us there for Adeline's heart murmur. We received good news at the appointment. We were there for all of about twenty minutes. The doctor listened to Addie's heart, and all sounded good. He said there was maybe still one hole, but it will most likely close up and that all is okay. We don't have to go back to the cardiologist unless we have any concerns. We love good news!

7 months.
BIG GIRL!!
Miss Adeline is seven months old as of last Friday. Can anyone tell me where the last seven months went?! She's a busy little lady these days. Last week she started full out crawling...see video below! And now this week she's trying to pull herself up on things. I'm not so ready for her new found independence!! Where did my squishy newborn go?! Somedays I'd really like to go back to those sleepless nights to have that squishy newborn back to cuddle! Now the only time she likes to cuddle is when it's time for bed! This coming Friday we have her follow-up appointment with the pediatric cardiologist. I'm praying for good news and hoping that the murmur has closed up. We'll keep everyone posted!

Our Little Lamber
This is Amelia's second and last year as a Little Lamb. She is attending the local Catholic school for preschool. The preschool program is called "Little Lambs", but the older students call them "Lambers." This year she is going two days a week, all day. From 8:10-2:30. She goes Mondays and Wednesdays. Mondays I will drop her off and pick her up. Wednesday, due to my work schedule, Kevin will take her and then she'll go to the after school care and I will pick her up when I get off work.
Sounds like drop off and pick up went well today. Kevin said she was a little nervous at first, but she did great. Her teacher had a funeral go to go today, so she was only there part of the day and they had a substitute most of the day. When Kevin picked her up, he talked to Sister Mary Margaret, who is the principal and she said Amelia was a little clingy to the teacher until lunch time, then Sister saw her at lunch and asked her if she'd like help getting her food, and so Sister helped her and then she saw Madison, our little neighbor girl, she's in kindergarten and then they ate lunch together and played on the playground together.
I know the days will get easier for her. I still am having a hard time believing she'll be in kindergarten next year!

Paul was upset this morning that Amelia was going to school, because he wanted to go to Mimi's school too!
I said to him "Paul, what do you have to do to go to school too?"
Paul: "Not wear diapers. I need my unders, I want to wear unders like daddy's"
Me: "Well, you go potty all day at Kim's and then we'll talk tonight" (I was on my way out the door!)
Paul: "No mom, I need my unders like daddys"
Me: "How about some pull ups?"
He agreed and took them to daycare, got to daycare and told Kim "I brought my big boy pull ups so I can go potty"
Sounds like the pull ups stayed in the diaper bag the whole time!! Someday he'll decide to be potty trained!

bedtime hell
Life with three kids is….hectic….I’m not going to lie. Most days it’s complete and utter chaos at our house Amelia and Paul are very busy little humans. Especially Paul. Everyday I feel like I should check my head for gray hair…but really I’m afraid of what I may find up there!!
This week it has been an endless battle at bedtime. For whatever reason, but kids fought us at bedtime. I’m not sure if they just weren’t tired….maybe naps need to go?! Amelia does okay without a nap, Paul on the other hand, needs his naps. He is our kid that asks for a nap…who does that?! Maybe it’s anxiety about starting school next week? That would explain Amelia, but not Paul. Excited for vacation? (We’re headed to Nisswa this weekend for my family reunion) Who knows! I’m hoping next week is a better week at bedtime. They’ve been coming down several times before actually falling asleep. Three out of four nights Amelia slept on our bedroom floor or in our bed. Kevin and I made countless trips upstairs to bring them back to their beds, settle them down, on and on. Last night at bedtime I was telling Paul that he needed to stay in his own bed all night. He looked at me and said “Mommy, I only come down on occasion, okay?” Seriously?! He knows the word occasion…and can use it in correct context in a sentence?! Where does this kid come up with this stuff? He’s a smart little cookie I tell you. Once in his bed last night we only had to go up once.
Hoping for a better week to come with bedtime!

August update
So I'm a bit behind here on blogging...didn't realize it had been so long since my last entry! Here are a few pictures from the last month.
August 2nd was First Responder Day at the Dome, they honored all First Responders at the beginning of the Twins game and all First Responders could purchase up to four tickets for $1 a piece. We took Amelia and Paul and went with our friends Ryan, Katie and their son Taylor, who also goes to daycare with Amelia and Paul. My dad and Mary Jo babysat Addie while we went to the game. The Twins weren't playing so hot that day, but it was fun to spend some time with the big kids and they seemed to enjoy the game...or maybe it was the food?!

We started Adeline on rice cereal about three weeks ago. This picture was taken after her first bite! She seemed to enjoy the first few bites of cereal, which is farther than we got with Amelia and Paul! We started veggies last week and she loved he sweet potatoes, likes the peas, and not so fond of the squash, which is what she had tonight. She's learned how to spit and it seems to be her favorite thing to do. After her first bit of squash she spit and it was all over her tray and all over me! I think she even laughed at me!

Miss Addie is now six months old...seriously, where did the time go?! Sometimes I still feel like I just found out I was pregnant with her, time sure flies when you're having fun! She's getting so big! We had her six month check up Friday and I will post her stats along with vintage six month pictures of Amelia and Paul and their stats...as long as I remember!!
This is how she fell asleep tonight. After her bath I put her on a blanket on the living room floor to play while I took laundry out of the dryer and switched loads, she was making a little noise, kind of fussing, then all of a sudden she was quiet, I walked into the living room and this is what I found...
Just this week she's started sucking her thumb...after six months of not needing a pacifier or anything! And now she's starting to suck her thumb. Hopefully it doesn't continue!!

Amelia is almost four and a half already. She starts her second year of preschool next Wednesday, I'm still having a hard time believing it's time for school already. We have her Open House on Wednesday night. She's looking forward to going to Little Lambs again, she'll have the same teacher, but this year she'll go two days (Monday/Wednesday) from 8:10-2:30. After class on Wednesdays she'll stay at school for the after school daycare, this will be much easier for Kevin, instead of him having to run to school, pick her up and bring her to daycare, she'd end up only being at daycare for about 2 hours when it's all said and done, so this will work out great! I'm hoping she adjusts well and does well with the after school daycare. She's still kind of timid when it comes to doing new things, so I'm hoping for the best. I will pick her up on my way home from work on Wednesdays. Look for a first day of school update next week!
Mr Paul...quite the little character that little guy. I can already tell, he's going to give us a run for our money when he's in high school! He's 2-1/2 going on 16! He's taken on swearing in the last few weeks...dammit is the favorite...and only one...thankfully...but after having a bar of soap in his mouth, it has ceased! I only put it in there once and I'm hoping that's all it took. I still remember my dad giving my sister and I a bar of Ivory soap for our mouths after a swearing incident we had at my mom's daycare center. Needless to say we watched our words after that. The first time he said it we were sitting at the dinner table, not sure why he said it, because he said "dammit" and then his cup of milk tipped over. So I threatened to get a bar of soap for his mouth to wash out the yucky words and I told him it could sit on the table just like the salt and pepper if he wanted to continue talking like that. I also told him how "Papa Matt" made me wash my mouth out with soap for saying naughty words. Seemed enough to get him for a while. Until about a week later he was playing on the floor with Adeline. Mary, Amber and I were getting ready for Kevin's birthday party and Mary and I were in the kitchen, Amber was upstairs cleaning with Amelia and all of a sudden we heard "DAMMIT!" come from Paul, not sure what was going on, they were playing nice together, maybe he was just trying to get a rise from me?! Who knows. So I took him back to the bathroom...frantically searching for a bar of soap, we never buy bar soap because we always use liquid body wash, thankfully I had a Melaleuca Gold Bar in the drawer, took it out and gave it to him. He sure didn't like the taste, but he gave me his famous Sh** eating grin afterward and ran out of the bathroom and said to Mary, "Grandma, know what my mommy did to me?! She put soap in my mouth!" and he repeated the same thing to Amber, he was all so serious about it. Hopefully I never have to look for a bar of soap again!
Tonight he informed us that he wants a television in his room. Our response...I don't think so! Kevin looked at him and said "You're two, you don't need a TV in your room". I'm not sure why he thinks he needs a tv in his room...I'm guessing because we didn't let them watch TV after their baths, we just did baths, pj's and bed. We got up to his room and said "Mommy, can you get me a TV?" as he's pointing out a spot on his bookshelf for it. I told him I don't have a TV for his room and that he's not getting a TV for his room, and he informed me to go down to the basement and get him one. Either he wants the one from the "man lounge" or he saw the one that belonged to Ann Sheridan that she had down in the nursing home, it's sitting in our basement on a shelf as we were going to use it in our camper. He's definitely going to give me a gray hair or two...I haven't done an inspection yet, but something tells me there are some on the top of my head.
Miss Adeline...our mover! She's starting to be a busy girl! She's sitting up, rolling around, scooting backwards and getting up on her hands and knees, if only she could figure out how to get them to work together! Though I'm certainly not ready for her to start crawling yet! She's a smiler, she's almost always smiling. Lately she's been pulling this "I'm shy" act, if I'm holding her and someone starts talking to her, she hides her face in my shoulder. Silly girl! Over the weekend Amelia and Paul were at Grandma Mary and Papa Ron's house for a sleepover, (I think Grandma was having withdrawals!), they went there Friday night and came home this morning. While they were gone Miss Addie seemed quite lost. Saturday morning she slept until almost nine and when she woke up I could tell she as looking for them, same thing this morning when she woke up. She just lights up when she sees them, I think she was happy to have them home!
This coming weekend is my family reunion in Nisswa, also Kevin's cousin Brenda is getting remarried Saturday so we're headed to the wedding Saturday afternoon, it's just a few miles from where the family reunion is. The kids will stay back at the cabin with my mom and Tim. I'm hoping for a nice weekend weather wise! Hard to believe it's almost Labor Day already. Where did the summer go?!
I think that's about all on us for now!! I'm off to bed!
