Amelia visits the ER...

Amelia made her first visit to the emergency room tonight. Her and Paul were playing in the backyard (like always)and I was doing a few things in the house. I had just changed Adeline's diaper and checked on them through our bedroom window since it faces the back yard, no more than walked out to the kitchen and two minutes later Amelia came flying into the house crying that Paul hurt her, she does this often, so I didn't think much of it, but asked her where it hurt, she was holding her head but pointed at her foot, I look down at the floor and there are drops of blood everywhere she had just walked. I started investigating and noticed it was coming form her head, but couldn't find it right away, finally had to take her pony tail out and move her hair a bit and I revealed a gash in her head that was about 1-1/2 inches long. I asked her what happened and she kept telling me that Paul pushed her, Paul came in, questioned him on it, but couldn't get a straight answer from him. Put pressure on Amelia's head and called Kevin (he was in the cities) and then I called Gene (he had just went to church at 6:30), he left church and came home and drove us up to the ER so I could sit in the backseat and keep the towel on Amelia's head. Kevin met us at the hospital. Amelia was a real trooper there. Warning the below pictures are a bit graphic!

The gash.
Patiently waiting for the doctor to come in.

All sealed up, we didn't have to do stitches thankfully, he was able to glue it back together.
Dr Becker gave her a stuffed cat while we were in the ER, he told her it needed a good home and she named it Adeline and then changed it to Fluffy on our car ride home, she's not sleeping peacefully with Fluffy in her bed.

22 weeks

We had a follow-up ultrasound this morning to recheck a few measurements, according to the ultrasound tech, everything looks good, but we'll wait for the official results from our doctor next week once he gets the radiologist report. We got a few more pics of our little one, He or she is very cute if I do say so myself! Baby's heart rate was 134 beats per minute, same as it was last week at my regular doctor appointment. We can't wait to meet our little one. Baby was curled up into a ball today, must have been sleeping!

All snuggled up!

Knees up the the chest.

22 weeks.

Nap time?

I thought I'd lay Adeline down for her nap upstairs in the crib that is in Amelia's room in attempt to start getting her use to napping up there. She was up there for about 20 minutes and I thought she was sleeping because I didn't hear her making a peep, then Paul went up to play in his room, I told him he had to shut his door and play quietly, a few minutes later I heard some banging around and decided to run up and see what was going on, he was sneaking out of the girls' room and I heard Adeline laughing, I went in and this is what I found....

How am I going to get her to actually sleep there when she thinks it's play time?

Wonderful weekend...

What a wonderful weekend we had! We started out on Friday night by having some friends over for dinner, it had been over 2 months since we all got together, so six adults (seven with Gene)and six kids. It was a fabulous evening even though the weather wasn't nice enough to have a fire or be outside, but we were still able to have our beer can chicken, great conversation and play some wii. Adeline, Kaelyn and Rylee had a great time running about, it's fun to see how much they all have changed in the last year!

Saturday morning Mary and Ron came down for a visit and to drop a few things off. Mary is having knee-replacement surgery on Tuesday morning, so please keep her in your prayers. My grandpa has been working on an island for our kitchen and had it completed, so him and my dad also came Saturday morning to install the island. I just love it, it turned out beautiful and I can't wait to organize it. I really can't wait until the day we can afford to refinish the other cabinets, get new counter tops on those, new flooring, and get rid of the awful green color that is my kitchen. Hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later! The island is just the start of the transformation. Below are some pictures of the new island.

We need to find some bar stools for by the island. Notice the 60's cabinets. Someday it'll all match and ignore my mess on the counters...I was prepping for dinner.

Lots of storage....note awful green color in background!

Beautiful.
Saturday evening we went to my Dad and Mary Jo's for dinner. We hadn't seen them since the girls' birthday party in March, so it was really nice to get together with my dad and it was the first time we've had dinner at his new house and he's lived there for a year! My grandparents were down for the weekend and my cousin Jakob came over for dinner as well. The kids got to go for a "swim" in his "pool". Which was pretty exciting for him. His "pool" is a jacuzzi tub that is sunk into the floor of his bathroom and the water comes out of the ceiling to fill it....the perks of being a contractor! haha. The kids always have to check it out whenever we go for a visit, and Papa has been promising them they could go for a swim in it sometime when they came over, they didn't let him forget!

Out of the mouths of babes...

Recently overheard from our children...

Amelia was bouncing on her hopping ball and Paul said to her "Meem, stop that, you're making me nervous" (She recently thought it was a good idea to bounce down two of our steps with it and nailed her cheek on a cabinet and ended up with a pretty good shiner from it)

Amelia was in the bathtub Sunday night, I got her situated in there and ran out to the kitchen to finish cleaning up from dinner. Went back in about 10 minutes later to check on her and Adeline was standing by the tub and had tossed in EIGHT, yes eight rolls of toilet paper into the tub. I asked Amelia why she didn't try to stop her and she said "Mom, she did it for a reason" And what would that reason be?

Last week at daycare Paul came out of the bathroom his shirt, shorts and underwear were wet, our daycare has no idea what happened, my only guess is that he was messing around because I can't tell you the last time he's had an accident or missed the toilet, etc. But we didn't have the diaper bag at daycare that day with the extra change of clothes, so Kim put her daughter's clothes on him and a girl pull-up as she didn't have underwear to fit him. Paul looked at Kim and said "Kimmy, I look ridiculous!" Bet that's the last time he messes around in the bathroom! :)

Kevin was cleaning the garage Sunday night, his little helper Paul was out there with him, sweeping the garage floor, he looks at Kevin and says "Dad, why don't you grab a broom and give me a hand". Where does this kid get this from?!

Amelia was in the kitchen on Saturday and Paul was watching a movie in the living room and she yells to him "Hey Paul, need anything long as I'm up?" Think she's heard that a time or two?!

Adeline is quite the character these days. Her favorite word is the same as most toddlers: "No", she's starting to talk quite a bit, at least I think so. She recently learned "ducky" and that it says "quack quack", she says "Uncle" or "Gene" usually when Gene walks into the house she says "Hi Uncle" or "Hi Gene" I think it melts his heart, "Hello" is another favorite. "Nigh-nigh" when going to bed or "Bye-Bye". "Mommy" comes out plain as day. Also says "Paul-Paul" and "Mimi" for Paul and Amelia, "Nana" for her favorite food bananas, "Papa" "Baby" is her blankies that she has to sleep with and it's not just one. "Dada", "Mil, mil"=milk and she's usually pointing for her cup or bottle (yes she still has a bottle and yes I'm trying to break that). "Hot" because she's always at my feet when I'm trying to cook dinner. "More", "Shoe" as she tires to put them on and "Go-go" when she's ready to leave. She's quite the chatty Cathy these days.

Paul is saving everything for his "Baby Brother", his old clothes, old shoes, old toys, you name it, he's saving it for his baby brother. Hopefully we'll be giving him a baby brother!

Amelia has to kiss the baby goodnight before she goes to bed every night.

These kids never cease to amaze me! I love them so much and they make me proud to be their mom.

Horse Rides

Wednesday night was the last night of Religion class at Church, Amelia has been going to the preschool class when Kevin goes to teach his Confirmation class. So for the last night they always have a pizza party, Amelia was very excited about it and got Paul very excited about it too, so Kevin decided to let him go along for the pizza party. Adeline and I stayed home and after we had dinner we went for a walk and stopped by church (I brought my camera along). Amelia's teacher rode her horse into town and brought another one with her, so she was giving all of the kids rides at church. Paul was very excited about riding the horse and Amelia was apprehensive. She finally agreed to go for a ride after Paul went for a ride, as long as he could ride with her.

When Paul got off the horse the first time he said "Mom, I really like riding the horsey". It's fun to see them excited about the little things in life!
