Recently overheard from our children...
Amelia was bouncing on her hopping ball and Paul said to her "Meem, stop that, you're making me nervous" (She recently thought it was a good idea to bounce down two of our steps with it and nailed her cheek on a cabinet and ended up with a pretty good shiner from it)
Amelia was in the bathtub Sunday night, I got her situated in there and ran out to the kitchen to finish cleaning up from dinner. Went back in about 10 minutes later to check on her and Adeline was standing by the tub and had tossed in EIGHT, yes eight rolls of toilet paper into the tub. I asked Amelia why she didn't try to stop her and she said "Mom, she did it for a reason" And what would that reason be?
Last week at daycare Paul came out of the bathroom his shirt, shorts and underwear were wet, our daycare has no idea what happened, my only guess is that he was messing around because I can't tell you the last time he's had an accident or missed the toilet, etc. But we didn't have the diaper bag at daycare that day with the extra change of clothes, so Kim put her daughter's clothes on him and a girl pull-up as she didn't have underwear to fit him. Paul looked at Kim and said "Kimmy, I look ridiculous!" Bet that's the last time he messes around in the bathroom! :)
Kevin was cleaning the garage Sunday night, his little helper Paul was out there with him, sweeping the garage floor, he looks at Kevin and says "Dad, why don't you grab a broom and give me a hand". Where does this kid get this from?!
Amelia was in the kitchen on Saturday and Paul was watching a movie in the living room and she yells to him "Hey Paul, need anything long as I'm up?" Think she's heard that a time or two?!
Adeline is quite the character these days. Her favorite word is the same as most toddlers: "No", she's starting to talk quite a bit, at least I think so. She recently learned "ducky" and that it says "quack quack", she says "Uncle" or "Gene" usually when Gene walks into the house she says "Hi Uncle" or "Hi Gene" I think it melts his heart, "Hello" is another favorite. "Nigh-nigh" when going to bed or "Bye-Bye". "Mommy" comes out plain as day. Also says "Paul-Paul" and "Mimi" for Paul and Amelia, "Nana" for her favorite food bananas, "Papa" "Baby" is her blankies that she has to sleep with and it's not just one. "Dada", "Mil, mil"=milk and she's usually pointing for her cup or bottle (yes she still has a bottle and yes I'm trying to break that). "Hot" because she's always at my feet when I'm trying to cook dinner. "More", "Shoe" as she tires to put them on and "Go-go" when she's ready to leave. She's quite the chatty Cathy these days.
Paul is saving everything for his "Baby Brother", his old clothes, old shoes, old toys, you name it, he's saving it for his baby brother. Hopefully we'll be giving him a baby brother!
Amelia has to kiss the baby goodnight before she goes to bed every night.
These kids never cease to amaze me! I love them so much and they make me proud to be their mom.

Horse Rides
Wednesday night was the last night of Religion class at Church, Amelia has been going to the preschool class when Kevin goes to teach his Confirmation class. So for the last night they always have a pizza party, Amelia was very excited about it and got Paul very excited about it too, so Kevin decided to let him go along for the pizza party. Adeline and I stayed home and after we had dinner we went for a walk and stopped by church (I brought my camera along). Amelia's teacher rode her horse into town and brought another one with her, so she was giving all of the kids rides at church. Paul was very excited about riding the horse and Amelia was apprehensive. She finally agreed to go for a ride after Paul went for a ride, as long as he could ride with her.
When Paul got off the horse the first time he said "Mom, I really like riding the horsey". It's fun to see them excited about the little things in life!

Big project....
So my big project of the day was cleaning upstairs. We recently put our extra crib together in Amelia's room in preparation for Adeline to move up there before the baby comes. We had given my sister the dresser that was in Amelia's room for her baby, it was a dresser my dad had made long ago and we've been moving it all over the place, so thought it was perfect to give it to Amber to use. We bought the girls a new dresser at Ikea for their room. The bedroom was in complete disarray this morning when I started, I should have taken before and after pictures. We hope to replace the windows upstairs this summer, so Amelia's room has temporary blinds on the windows. We took her closet door off for the carpet before we moved in and just left it off as it didn't latch real well, so over the weekend I bought her a super cute curtain at Ikea for her closet "door". So now we need to get a bar or something to hang the curtain with over the door and I also need to hem the bottom so it's not so long. I may have to wait for my mom to come visit! Just kidding, I'm sure I can figure out how to hem it! Here are some pictures of my end product from today. When I walked into her room this morning there was furniture and toys EVERYWHERE!

Amelia's bed with her old bedding from our old house, she had a full size bed up until about a month ago, so now she's back to a twin. This bed is temporary, it's the trundle bed from Paul's bedroom, we just need to go bed shopping for her.

I'm happy with the progress I made, I'm also very excited that I can see the floor again! Amelia agreed that she'd help keep it clean....we'll see how long that lasts! I feel like I'm nesting already, I am wanting to eliminate extra clutter around our house, don't be surprised if you drive by our house and see a bunch of free stuff on the curb! Haha!

Beautiful weather.
With all of this beautiful spring weather we've been having, we've been spending a lot of time outdoors. We've had a few meals out on our patio, since we can finally enjoy it. We poured our patio last August and it seems like it rained every day after we poured it. Well not really, but just about, so we didn't really get to enjoy it last summer/fall. We bought a new patio set this spring, so it's been nice to be out there and enjoy it all.

Lookiung forward to many more nice days to enjoy the patio and our backyard!
Amelia and Paul with their cheesy smiles, they opt to eat at their little picnic table for dinner!

DIY Projects...
The last time I was at Crafts Direct (2 years ago) I saw these glass blocks with lights in them and I've been thinking about them ever since, I thought they looked really cool. Since we're in the process of moving Adeline upstairs to share a room with Amelia, I thought I'd make them a nightlight for their room. This is how it turned out, I think I'm going to still mess around with it a bit and try to adjust the lights inside it better and I may do something else for the bow on the outside, I haven't decided yet and I love the vinyl saying I picked out for it, it fits the girls perfectly.

I made this for my laundry room to cover up a hole that remains from the vent from the old water heater. Kevin's grandma use to have some random Home Interiors thing hanging there that just wasn't my style, though it remained until we remodeled the laundry room. I had bought another laundry room hanging a couple of weeks ago at Gordman's, I got it home and decided I don't really like it and it doesn't really fit my style, so I'm going to be returning that. So I've been searching for that "perfect" thing.
I found this vinyl saying at Craft's Direct, I really liked it and thought it'd fit well in my laundry room. But I was scratching my head on how I could use it, then I saw the 12x12 piece of canvas and decided that I'd paint it, apply the decal and hang it over the hole in the laundry room. I think it turned out really well. This is the end result.

Girls overnight...
In honor of Amelia's fifth birthday, I thought she needed a special gift or outting. So my best thought was a girls overnight to include both of her Grandmas and her aunt/Godmother Amber! Originally I wanted to take her to Chicago and stay at a hotel and go to American Girl and explore Chicago, but after looking into it and realizing how much it would cost, I decided against that, since originally we had been planning to go to Florida for the space shuttle launch in May, which we are no longer doing. Then I thought we'd get a hotel in cities and go to American Girl at the Mall of America and after careful consideration, I decided that she was too young to get an American Girl doll. Maybe in a few years. So we decided upon an overnight in St Cloud. It was a great meeting place, as it was about half way for us as it was for my mom and sister.
We left Friday morning and got home around 8 last night. We had a great time, did lots of shopping, enjoyed some fun dinners out and time relaxing at the hotel pool and hot tub. I didn't get a lot of pictures, but I did get a few yesterday after our 2 hour adventure at Craft's Direct, I LOVE that store! I could spend all day there I think! I got a few things to do a couple different projects (that'll be my next post!). Overall I think Amelia had a great time, it was great for her to have all of the attention on her.
